CPUs supported Silverado is a CPU cooler for the modern 1000 MHz generation of processors. It is suitable for all Pentium III socket type CPUs and for all AMD Socket A CPUs.
Technical description The cooler constists of an aluminium heatsink with a heat spreader made of 50 gramms of pure silver. Airflow is provided by two radial fans mounted on top of the heatsink.
Cooling power The Silverado offers a wide range of adaptable cooling power. If operated at nominal voltage, the twin fans move up to 42 m³/h, providing cooling power in the top range of air coolers, while still maintaining reasonable noise levels. Run at the recommended reduced RPMs, the Silverado still has ample cooling power for up to 1200 MHz (Intel) and 1500 MHz (AMD) at a mere whisper of the twin fans.

Mounting method For mounting, a single spring steel bracket is used. To ensure parallel positioning of the heatsink to the CPU core, a set of special rubber spacer rings is provided. These also offer some protection against the widespread AMD-cracking problem.

Although the Silverado exeeds the AMD specified maximum weigth by about 30%, the spacer rings combined with the steel bracket provide for 100% secure mounting of the cooler. There is one restriction, however: A PC with the Silverado installed may not be transported. (You can carry the PC around, or transport it in your car, but never with a carrier like the post or UPS, etc.)

Known problems 1) With some boards, the lenght of 80mm may be a problem if electronic parts, especially condensors, are monted in close proximity to the CPU socket. Measure before you buy; we will list incompatible boards as we gather the information. Please do not ask for compatibility of specific boards – we can never tell for sure as the board manufacturers change the board layout whenever they please.

2) With some BOIS versions, especially those used on ABIT boards, the board may refuse to boot since it is programmed to handle RPMs as low as the Silverado's as an error. From what we know, there are BIOS patches that at least allow disabling of fan monitoring.

3) Some monitoring softwares do not allow for fans running at RPMs as low as the Silverado. There is no solution for this – use a different monitoring software that makes sense.
